The Dark

There is a feeling we all experience, it is a feeling of dread and fear. We have all known it at one point or another. This feeling derives from something so simple and so omnipresent in our day to day lives. It is a fear of the dark.
This fear isn’t solely from being in a dark room or building however. This feeling can come even at a time when you are in a well lit bathroom washing your hair at 9 in the morning. Then you go to get the shampoo out so you close your eyes and begin to remove the soap not wanting to get it in your eyes because it burns. Next thing you know you have this feeling that your have to hurry because you can’t see anything. You wonder to yourself if someone will be looking at you when your eyes open. In a panic you race to be able to open your eyes, though you do not know why it all of a sudden came over you to be frightened.  You know that you are alone but your heart still races because you are scared that when you finally open your eyes, something or someone will be starting at you.

This can be especially frightening at night. Picture yourself lying in your own bed. You just put down your book and shut the lights off because you feel your eyes getting heavy. However as you lay there in the silence of the dark like all other nights, suddenly something is different. Your eyes are not heavy, but actually more open. You feel your heart rate increase as you peer around the room. You know you are alone but it seems like the darkness is moving.

Why do such feelings happen? Are they just our inner child remembering what things were like when we didn’t have an understanding of the world? Perhaps it is just some slow on setting paranoia from the day’s events?  What about the more terrifying choice? What if it is actually our senses reacting to something that was not there? Maybe it could be an entity that we don’t see but completely feel around us. Something that thrives in the dark and even though we fear it, we never actually see it.  Is it all a bunch of childish dread? I don’t know the answer to that one, but I know what I think.

Are you afraid of the dark deep down? Let me know your thoughts of why this dreadful occurrence happens even in grown adults. Tweet me a@Vijayp1982 or comment below.

Why is it there?

This experience was sent to me shortly after the blog about the old hag/shadow man. I will not be sharing the identity of the individual who shared this story with me as they have not given me consent to release their identity. I will respect their privacy but still share their experience as they have been quite happy to know that they are not alone with their experiences and have been happy to hear from others about experiences that have also been experienced.

I used to live in a home where I’d get that old hag on a regular basis. In this home many strange things happened besides that and even guests in my home would tell me things that they were afraid I wouldn’t believe.

One morning I opened my eyes from a horrible dream that was filled with hatred towards someone who gave me a hard time often. When I opened my eyes, there was a figure standing beside my bed. He was detailed, without color, except different shadows of gray. I would see him clear as day, he wasn’t translucent.

The thing that scared me most was his pupils were fully dilated, his mouth was closed, but somehow I had a feeling almost like a certainty that his mouth was blood filled with razor sharp teeth. He had a human appearance besides his dark vibe. He looked like pure evil.

I was terrified. This was not during an old hag episode. My new baby was sleeping beside me on my bed and I was terrified for us both. I closed my eyes and prayed to God with all I had to take that evil being away.

Then all of a sudden I felt a release that left me feeling calm enough to grab my baby and get the heck out of there.

Without my husband I would not sleep in that room, when he got up at 5 in the morning, so did I. As my daughter got older, she would refer to a man as “boy” and a woman as “girl.” She would be playing in the hallway that led to my room, while I was in the kitchen. Often, she would freeze and stare into the hallway, which was right out of my view and she would say “mommy...boy” and she would sound terrified. I would run to grab her and she would say “gone.”

Long story short and many creepy happenings there later, we sold the place. I have seen that home on the market quite a few times in my opinion, always vacant when it is being sold. I will refuse to show the place to prospective buyers or get someone else too, as I will never step foot in that home again.

What would you do in this situation? Having a baby involved would be so much more complicated. Tweet me your thoughts @Vijayp1982 or comment below.

What was it?

Strange occurrences are a part of life. Sometimes even though they are odd, they are easy to explain. There are those mysterious occurences that happen where you just have no idea what happened. I have had such experiences where I don’t know what happened and could never figure it out. This one in particular I will always remember.
When I was young, I was playing pass with 2 of my cousins. For anyone out there who knows what an oup-ee is, that is what we were using. An oup-ee was a beach ball from KFC that had a place to put water in so the ball moved around instead of just moving in a normal straight direction when you threw it.

On a ledge by where we were playing was a small figurine of Jesus. The ball knocked the figurine off the ledge and it hit the ground and broke. The head of the figure snapped off. I was in a huge panic as most kids would be when they break something. I was thinking about how much trouble I would be in when my parents found it. Being the brave and intelligent kid I was, I figured that they would never notice if it was not there anymore.  So I took it and hid it so they wouldn’t find it.

Obviously my mom knew it was missing. I wasn’t as smart as I thought. For a few days she made a few attempts at finding it but didn’t seem too concerned from what I could tell. When I finally saw that she didn’t really seem to mind, I pretty much thought that I could come clean about breaking it and not be in that much trouble. This is where the unexplainable part comes in.  As small and insignificant a thing as it is, it is still something I always think about.

I went to get the figure from where I hid it. I picked the little blanket that I put the pieces in up from the hiding spot and unwrapped it.  The head was on. Not glued back on, but actually on. There was no breakage on the neck line, there was no seam. It was one solid piece. It was as though it had never broken in the first place.

I am not at all in this case saying this was some sort of spiritual occurrence. What I am saying is that this figure of Jesus that I had broken was no longer broken at all. Not fixed, but just normal.  It was not found by anyone and put back together, it was not broken in any way.  Whatever happened is still a mystery but I will never forget it.

Ultimately I just took the figure and put it back. When asked about why I moved it, I just told my mom I was playing with it forgot to put it back. Nothing else was ever said about it. Some people out there may want to say “maybe because you were young you just don’t remember seeing the cracks from where it broke.” That could have been possible except for one small issue. My mother still has the figure and it looks just as whole today as it always did before I broke it.

Visitors

Have you ever had an experience where you think you saw a paranormal entity but after that one time, they were gone? Maybe a situation where a string of odd potentially paranormal occurrences happen, but then all of a sudden stop completely never to happen again?

A visitor may have popped in uninvited. A guest entity that for whatever reason has crossed your path for a short duration of time and just as quickly it vanishes from your life because it is continuing on its journey. If you have had any of those circumstances, you may have had a visitor. There are many more signs that could lead to it but these ones are the most obvious. The other question is, if you did have a visitor would you have known it?

You see something out of the corner of your eye, but then it is gone. You put something down in a spot. When you go back to get it, it isn’t there and no one has moved it. Just the same, it is not where you put it. Then out of the blue it shows up somewhere else and you shrug it off thinking that you obviously must have put it where you ended up finding it but just forgot?  Let’s not forget one of the most common examples.  Did you leave that light on when you left that room? You were sure you turned it off, but obviously you must have left it on because it is on right?

Do I believe that a visitor is the same as a haunting? No I do not. A visitor is just passing through and very harmless as far as I am concerned. You may not even know you have one unless you are really paying attention. Do I believe that all visitors are benign? Not necessarily but I would assume mostly. I say that because I also believe that at all times we are surrounded by entities whose lives have been long over. We just don’t sense them. I think they are always around though. If they were dangerous I would think there would be a lot more complaints of random attacks. For the most part I believe that the visitor will just come and go leaving you to wonder what happened. One really good question is do I believe that a visitation can turn into a haunting? Yes I do. Put it this way. If you leave food out for a stray animal, it will keep coming back. Eventually it is just going to stay there. In other words if you know it is there and keep trying to interact with it in your home, you may end up with a new roommate.

In what I believe, we are always surrounded by the paranormal. Some linger while others come and go. I feel that they are always out there. Some of them are not aware of us any more than we are of them, just as some have a need to be noticed. They can be negative, positive, and even both.  I truly think that even when we think we are, we are never alone.

What do you think about visitors? Do you think as I do? Maybe you have other beliefs or opinions.  Share them with me below or tweet me @Vijayp1982.

When are dreams more than dreams?

When I was younger, like most kids my imagination was active. The sky was the limit and nothing was impossible. I always wanted to be the strongest warrior in the world. My favorite games were always where I got to rescue the damsel in distress. The monsters were whatever I could think about at the time.

If any of you have read my previous post about my psychic experience with Madam Vera, this is a continuation of her reading. My focus prior was addressing people’s belief in psychics. This is another reason why she made me a believer that day.

My fantasy world as a child slowly faded as I grew older but the underlying notion is a part of my life still. It is for most of us. Our fantasies as kids are a major part of the choices we make when we grow older. Sometimes the obstacles that we face turn us from the path we used to follow. Other times those obstacles drive us to be what we always dreamt of. To be quite clear, I dreamt of the being the hero just as much I played being the hero as a child. As I grew up I wanted to be the hero, and honestly still do. However, what does it mean when the monsters you fight when you are playing are more dangerous when you sleep? What happens when these monsters are quite vivid and the dreams are far more vulgar than a child’s mind can conceive? Then as time goes by, these same dreams don’t stop. They continue and get that much more intense. The repetitive dream is common but what about the feelings like you have bruises that you didn’t have before you went to sleep.

This even still could possibly be determined scientifically. A medical explanation for how the mind transfers the images from you dream in to a real manifestation of pain in your physical body. Well how about we re-introduce the psychic connection.  This is what makes the dream more than a dream for me. My dreams were not something I brought up to her in our conversation.  It wasn’t even really a focus of the reading at all. The twisted monsters I saw in my head while I slept were described to me by someone who I never met. Madam Vera in a very direct way said after describing my very personal images “these are not dreams, they are very real. You are really fighting. The reason why you see them is because they know you. They don’t like you because you won’t fear them. Whereas most people run from the darkness you run towards it. They fear you, and so they must beat you.”

Needless to say, this was unnerving in the sense of her knowing such details. At the same time it was inspiring because I knew it to be true. I will not run in fear, I will not stand idly by. I may be afraid but courage is action in the face of fear. What would you do if your dreams were more than just a thought in your head?

Are Demonic Hauntings Common?

So many times we hear on some reality paranormal research shows that Demons are the cause of an unfortunate victims problems, but how often is it true?  Looking at the haunting phenomenon as a whole, the majority of cases investigators are called upon for assistance are usually not paranormal in nature.  To be generous one may get away with saying that out of 100% of the calls they get, 80% are not paranormal in nature.  That leaves a slim margin of 20%. Again to restate, that this is being generous.  On average though, the number is half of that. It is estimated that maybe 10% of investigations are actually paranormal in nature.  Using that statistic though, exactly what is the average for paranormal activity involving Demonic entities?

The fact of the matter is that Demonic activity, though allegedly on the rise in recent years, is still so rare, that it is highly unlikely that many of the claims of Demonic activity actually have true merit.  This does not mean the victims are not experiencing activity of some sort. It just seems that people are so quick to jump to the extreme end of the spectrum after any negative activity occurs. The common one which such groups as the South Eastern Paranormal Society completely denote is that just because a person gets scratched and sees 3 claw marks doesn’t mean it is a Demon.  The phrase used is that when they see the 3 claws the pop culture belief is that it is mocking the holy trinity. Just like SEPS, I also do not believe this.

I am of the opinion that if you have a non human entity that comes from the pits of hell, it would do far more damage than mere scratches.  If these creatures truly come from such a place, simple knocks and bangs just seem beneath such a being.

I recently saw a picture someone had posted that supposedly has gone viral. It was titled Demon in the couch.  The name alone sounded ridiculous and the picture was that much worse. You clearly saw something behind the pillow on the couch. Whether the picture was altered to fit this image I do not know. I’m just saying that the thought of such a creature rising up from the abyss just to hide under the pillow in somebody’s living room seems utterly foolish.

I posted the picture below.  Tell me what your thoughts are in the comment box or tweet me @Vijayp1982. What do you think of this?

A Picture is worth a thousand words.

My wife and I were out for a walk this evening. As one might expect from the title of this blog, I had my camera. I was snapping pictures along the bow river. I was under the center street bridge. I had something that was a little strange occur two times.  The camera battery was ok. I checked it before we went on the walk. In about 20 minutes from when we started our walk the battery dropped to red zone showing that it was about to die. This was obviously odd, but my wife said maybe it is just the camera. On its own a battery dying isn’t really saying much.  I kept snapping pictures while we were walking expecting that at any moment it was going to power down. The odd thing was that it didn’t power down. Actually it had gone back to normal. Still something to shrug off at the time as it didn’t really seem to mean much. However, after we had begun our loop to go back to our starting point, it happened a second time. Exactly the same as the first time where it had dropped to red and about to die, but then just like that it went back to full battery after a few moments. Just to clarify, I am not saying that this is paranormal. I am saying that my camera has not done this before. So I have included 3 pictures that are of interest. This is because two of the pictures are completely normal. The flash went off normal for all of them, but the one in the middle is a bit strange. First of all it is extremely dark which it should not have been due to the flash going off. Second of all as you look to the top of the picture, there is a face clear as day. You can see 2 eyes, a nose, a mouth, a moustache, a neck, and funny enough the face has a bum chin.  Depending on the size of screen you are looking at, you may need to enlarge it. On a normal monitor it is very clear. What do you think this could be? To keep objective, there is no definite way to answer this. It may not be paranormal in nature at all. However, I am not at all sure how I got such a detailed face from a picture that shouldn’t have turned out as it did. Tweet me your thoughts @Vijayp1982 or comment below.

Popularity and Paranormal Reality Shows

The popularity of paranormal subculture has been growing by leaps and bounds.  With such shows as Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, Paranormal State, and many others the trend will likely continue. What about these different shows makes them a success?

When I watch Ghost Hunters I always find myself drawn into the show because they have a very scientific approach. Some hunters go in expecting a haunting and tend to find one because they are expecting it. Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson go at it with the intent of debunking the haunting. They do everything they can to find other reasons for the occurrences. I like this because it reminds me that for all the stories that come through the line up, about 80% of them will not be paranormal at all. They keep grounded. Even during the shows they record. It isn’t about showing the scariest thing they get on film, but to show that even though there is activity out there not all of it is true. They show investigations where nothing at all is going on. I call this my number one favorite because they keep us all honest when we experience what we go through.  I, as a paranormal enthusiast, always wish to determine any other factors before believing what I am told. I think that for all hunters out there, this is a true sign of professionalism and respect for the job. For all those who follow this method, I very much salute you. You are doing the field justice and representing all hunters with pride. All these reasons are why they are my first choice.

Now the other side of the coin in regards to entertainment how can we not talk about Zak Baggins, Aaron Goodwin, and Nick Groff.  You know them as the Ghost Adventures Crew. These guys are crazy. It is no wonder they get results because their method is to go in and provoke until something happens. You poke a bear enough times it is going to show its teeth.  They show the creepiest of their adventures and keep the stories coming.  Some of the footage they show is remarkable and frightening. Truly something every hunter loves to come across I have no doubt. My favorite episode was at Bobby Mackey’s. They had a static x camera set up and you clearly saw a full sized figure towards the back of the room move across. It was definitely hard to ignore.  They have time and time again captured some of the most ground breaking footage I have seen and until anything ever comes up to show that they have in some way faked what they have caught, I am definitely a Ghost Adventures Crew fan. These guys know how to get the job done. That is what makes them number 2 on my list.

Now for my third pick, I would have to go with Ryan Buell and the Paranormal State team, PRS. What I find intriguing about their show is the way they show the systematic break down of their investigation. They show you their entire approach to the investigation. They give you interviews from all the members, they show you what they are researching and why, they show you the walk through, they also bring in their selected psychic for the show. I really enjoy Chip Coffey, but I like Michelle Belanger as well. Also no matter what anyone says, Lorraine Warren looks like the sweetest little old lady. If you didn’t know who she was you would never think she was a highly renowned demonologist and sensitive. The show is great because they do a good job of showing the struggle that the people they are trying to help are going through which makes you really empathize with the victims. You feel like you are going through it with them and actually can connect.  This is why I would place them as number 3.

I have only listed my top 3 favorites but in all fairness, I really enjoy all paranormal shows. I enjoy some quite a bit more than others I admit. They all bring something to the table in terms of knowledge and entertainment.  The recreation method of A Haunting is always wonderful because they make it almost like watching a movie. Ghostly Encounters also for their method of recreation but also with the narration that gives added life to the story. They all have their appeal in one way or another. They are also good for information for hunters out there who are still getting their feet wet, but also for veterans who are looking for ideas they have not yet tried. There is something for everyone out there and for this reason I will always be a fan. One of the best things they do is that they bring light to a subject that has far too long been taboo. They help bring awareness to a major subject and also show people out there that these things are happening and nobody who thinks they are alone are actually alone. Others out there are also experiencing things and there is help out there for them. Keep those shows coming, and we could use more of them. They bring a unity to the paranormal community and they bring peace of mind to the scared and confused.

Outside of the Whaley house on vacation with my wife.  The camera is digital but we caught a bunch of orbs. I normally don't consider orbs as much evidence. However these caught my eye upon review.

A few of my pictures from the Whaley house came out with some oddities.  The picture titled chair mist was also from the Whaley house. I also have a few of that top picture of the house where for some reason the picture is distorted in a few frames, but I was standing still when taking the pictures. Send me your thoughts. My first real psychic experience.

Some of you out there reading this blog know me and know a lot about my life. Majority of you who will read this do not. My posts so far have been more informational but I thought it was time for a personal story.
What is your belief in psychics? Do you feel that some are credible while others are not? Maybe you just think they are all kooks.  I never used to put a whole lot of faith into a psychic prediction.  They always seemed so generic that they could apply to anyone, or they just were all together wrong.  I would go to them for fun but never with any thoughts about them being in any way real.

Back in 2002 I was in a mall in Edmonton where I used to live.  You may have heard of it, it was West Edmonton Mall.  I was just outside of the food court and there was a psychic booth there. I didn’t have anything on the agenda and I was just hanging out. I figured what the hell. I have some time to kill so why not? The booth was inside a tent that looked like one you would see at a big top circus. It was obviously much smaller as it was inside the mall. The color was deep red. It had mini mirrors going from the top of the tent cover to the ground on every seam. It was octagon shaped. Each panel of the siding had a blue oval with a lion on it and words above the lion that were another language.  Her name was Madame Vera.

I sat down in front of her and kept my smile very genuine. Meanwhile I was thinking that she was going to be the same as every other psychic out there. I of course was respectful.  Make no mistake folks, if you are willing to sit in front of them frauds or not, don’t judge them. You are the one paying the money for a laugh, so who is the fool hahaha. Anyways, I listened to her explanation of what she was going to do to get her reading. From all of the ones I have been to, there have been many methods I have seen. Some hold your hands, some just look at you. Some do the Tarot cards, some read your palms, and so forth.  She just did the reading by holding my hands.

I sat there while she had her eyes closed and was reading whatever she was reading. I was still with no belief in it other than the entertainment value. She told me a number of things that were somewhat general as expected. While she was talking to me I just enjoyed the fortune telling and took it with a grain of salt. I paid $20.00 and figured that I’ll get what I paid for.  Closer to the end of the reading she let go of my hands and looked at me puzzled. I was thinking to myself “this is new.” She said “do you have a lot of stress?” I told her I did not. I actually was in a really good place. Everything was going extremely well for me at this point so I figured that now we were on the part where she was totally off her rocker. She said with more concern in her voice “there is something wrong here” moving her hands around her stomach. She started saying I needed to maybe do yoga or something because I had a serious problem in that area. Which of course I laughed because I sure didn’t have any issues what so ever at this point.

She saw my laugh, but with a more stern voice said “You really need to do something about this, it is very serious.” I was not rude but just told her I understood. The reading was over and I left. Laughing to myself because it was if nothing else, entertaining. I figured that it was worth the $20.00.

3 months later I was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. I had no symptoms or issues at all until just prior to the diagnosis. I was actually just coming off a big win from a martial arts tournament before I saw Madam Vera. I was in probably the best shape of my life when I went to see her with no sign of illness. So needless to say when she told me about her prediction of my serious issue in the stomach area, I laughed it off as nothing but nonsense.

I tell you, the moment I heard the doctors tell me my diagnosis. Aside from the shock of being told I had this cancer, I couldn’t believe how my thoughts took me right back to Madam Vera and her warning. I was thinking about what I might have done to heed what she told me and maybe prevent this from having happened to me. If I didn’t believe in psychics before, I sure did now.  Don’t misunderstand me. Not every personal claiming to be a psychic is actually gifted like that. Majority of them are frauds trying to take your money.  However, there are those few special people out there who actually know what they are doing.  If you are fortunate enough to cross paths with them, LISTEN to what they say.

Just to end on a positive note, I went through my treatments and surgeries years ago. I have come through it with flying colors and my cancer has been gone for a long time. I had to have a complete gastric bypass. What that means is that they did remove my entire stomach. So I am all intestine and esophagus. It isn’t so bad. I must admit though, the thought even till this day runs through my head. What if I would have listened instead of laughed?

What do you believe?

We live in mundane times. Things of a fantastic nature seem to be a thing of the past. One of the few things we have that can take us away from the rut of our day to day lives is the mystery surrounding the great beyond. It is one of mankind’s greatest mysteries, also one that can never truly be explained. Aside from the mostly undiscovered Antarctic, it is probably that last true adventure mankind can ever embark on. No pun intended when I say “last.”   With so many different systems of belief about what happens when we die, how can we ever begin to guess what is the actual truth?

Some people take solace in that they are going to a better place. Some people believe the righteous go up, and the sinners go down. Some religions have purgatory, while some have hell. There are also those who believe there is nothing beyond that point. That it is just over. So how could we ever begin to understand such a cosmic existential thing as what happens once we pass on? Could it be that some beliefs are right while some are wrong? Could it be that all are right or all are wrong? Even this as outside of the box as it is, is still a possibility that even within our vast variety of beliefs we are all missing the truth completely. However, with no real guide save that of those various beliefs, how could we even form any new thoughts or opinions?

I am not in any rush to go on that adventure yet, I have a lot of living that I want to do for a long time to come. The thought however is one we all still think about. What happens when we get to that point?  What steps can we take in this life to ensure that our immortal soul is protected, for those who believe in the immortal soul?  That one I would have to say is an easy one. The better person you are, the better chance you have at going to a good place. This is where the paranormal talk truly starts.

For all the ghost experiences that happen, it is hard to think that there is nothing beyond this life. Granted there are a great many skeptics out there who do not believe in the afterlife or paranormal. However, I obliviously believe there is a vast afterlife out there which I want to learn the truth about.  With these ghosts and apparitions that happen, you hear tales of the spectre that appears to save the traveller from going a dangerous route. You hear stories of the phantom that directs a person out of harm’s way then is never found. Some are beings that are seemingly benevolent spirits out to help people in need.  So if this is a good entity, why is it trapped here? What about its immortal soul?

There are such things as the crisis apparitions, beings with unfinished business, all of which seem to disappear after they have accomplished their goal. If we see them for the time in which they have to do something, where do they go when they are done? I have my beliefs and am sure you all out there have your own. Share your thoughts with me. I want to hear about what your beliefs are and how you see things.

In a strange way my beliefs are almost like a bank account. With the more good you put out, the more income you have. While the more bad you do the more debt you have. If you have more income than debt you are safe (Heaven), if your debt gets too high you go bankrupt (Hell). Perhaps that is an over simplification. I think that it is one we all can relate too though.

Dreams and Prophecy

Dreaming of day to day events is nothing out of the ordinary. Dreams take place in a seemingly limitless world where anything is possible, but what does it mean when instead of dreaming of the day to day, you dream of tomorrow? Not only tomorrow, but dreaming of any time in the future where you wake up remembering details of the dream and find out later that what you dreamt has now occurred. I can imagine the feeling would initially be like the experience of Déjà Vu. Then the reality sets in and you know that it was not Déjà Vu but you in fact already saw this whole event play out in a dream. Now your thought process is going and you start recalling more specific aspects of your dream and a chill runs through you because you remember that you saw all of this before.

Now some peoples first thought would be of shock and disbelief. Some people may experience anxiety at the situation. Some may only think to themselves “why couldn’t I dream of the lottery numbers?” Everyone would deal with things in their own way. To restate the question, what does dreaming of the future mean? Did you somehow gain this special ability without knowing it? Were you always able to do it and just now realized you could? My favorite question of them all, did something else put this precognition in your head?

One argument that could be said is that as humans would be to refer to that statement “we only use 10% of our brains.” According to Neurologist Barry Gordon at the John Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, is completely incorrect. According to Gordon we use virtually every part of our brain. In fact according to Gordon most of the brain is active at all times. So if that is the case where would such an ability of precognition possibly be stored? Let’s address the possibility that there is another level of consciousness beyond that of just our actual brains. A higher plane of consciousness would be ideal as a source for such abilities. This theory would also be more in line with the paranormal aspect of precognition as well as precognition in dreams. I make that correlation because it is a common theory that the dream plane is another plane of existence.

As wonderful a thought as it could potentially be to say we are capable of this added ability or power, what if it is not us at all? Could it be some higher force planting these ideas in our head? The voices telling some individual about events to come in the least invasive way to make sure that this person does not panic, but this higher power still gets the message out. Such abilities of telling the future are far more out in the open than ever before. There are just as many fakers as there are genuine precognitive abilities. So I have to wonder with these genuine displays, why are they the ones chosen to display this ability? I want to know why these people are being told of coming events. Are they simply being told so they can chronicle the events as they happen? Or are they supposed to have a hand in it? This theory then leads to another question. Is the higher power leaking these details a good one or bad one? Are they telling these events to help us, or are they manipulating these individuals to help themselves.

Precognitive dreams have been reported throughout our history, precognitive people show up in all cultures. What do you think it stems from? What do you think the purpose of us knowing is? Lastly do you think these events happen for our benefit or our demise?

There are many other theories behind this phenomenon as well, I only address specific ones. Join me on twitter and tell me what you think this means or which other theories you think is more relevant @Vijayp1982.

The old hag and the Shadow man/Demon

Have you ever found that you awoke one from a deep sleep but couldn’t move your body? No matter how hard you struggled you could not move at all? Wondering if you were actually not awake but then realizing that you are completely lucid? This is known as Sleep Paralysis and it is a common occurrence worldwide. Sleep Paralysis in of itself is not remarkable as it is medically recognized. According to Merriam-Webster, an encyclopedia Britannica group, Sleep Paralysis is a complete temporary paralysis occurring in connection with sleep and especially upon waking. Now let’s kick this up a notch.

Have you ever found yourself experiencing these symptoms but this time you have this strange pressure that you feel bearing down on your body? Feeling a huge amount of weight pressing on your chest? Feeling like someone is in the room that shouldn’t be there? Looking around in a panic as only your eyes can move, you see in the corner of the room what looks to be either an old woman who looks like a witch with long white hair and black clothing? If not her, how about the large figure of the menacing man or demonic presence who appears to be nothing more than shadow but clearly defined?

If you haven’t been told already, you are not alone in this.  The event of the hag and the shadow man/demon has happened so frequently and across so many different parts of the world that it is literally a phenomenon.  The big question on this is; is this an actual paranormal event that so many people are experiencing? Or is it some type of mass hysteria or paranoia that has people imagining the same thing?

It is obvious that the skeptics would agree with the latter. That this phenomenon is all brought on by a mass hysteria from exposure to the story that has plagued the histories. These skeptics would likely claim that the subject who had the experience has at some point even on a subconscious level been exposed to the story and so this has brought on the occurrence. With no explanation on why the timing of the occurrence was what it was.

I run a small group page in which a number of people out of my group have experienced this same phenomenon. These members don’t know how or why, but they all shared the same scenario.  Many of the ones who experienced it have told me that they have never heard anything of this story or knew anything about it. Being that this was just a small group of people just around 540 members, there was nothing to gain by lying. I very much believe that they knew nothing about it.

I myself have experienced it as well.  I remember the sensation of fear and feeling like I couldn’t move. I remember the confusion and wondering if I was maybe dreaming, until realizing that I assuredly was awake. Most of all I remember the feeling of someone being in the room, I couldn’t see them well because I could only move my eyes. It seemed like I could feel them in there as one would if an actual person was in the room, though I knew it was not. In my experience my breathing was not laboured but more that I was unable to take a full breath due to the pressure. All I could see through the corner of my eye was movement of a full sized person. I couldn’t look at them directly, but I could see them. I struggled and struggled until finally I was able to move again. I shot up and looked around to see who was there, but there was nothing. I was alone. The odd thing is that this has occurred again a number of times with a difference, I felt ready. I felt that I would be able to challenge whoever it was that was causing this. I felt confident. The reason I make mention of this fact is because with this confidence I noticed that I was able to break the effect of the paralysis much faster. It was almost like the fear of what could be out there was weakening me. However, when I took away the weapon of fear of whatever they were using against me I took away a big part of their power.

Where does this story originate and how is it that so many people around the world share this experience? Through a lot of research I have found that this spans time back to the very inception of mankind and Lilith the first wife of Adam and mother of all demons.  The story then finds its way forward through the centuries. Ultimately if there is a true origin of this story, as it is rooted in so many cultures around the world I have no idea how to find it. Which raises the question, if this is just a medical problem with no paranormal link, how is it possible that it is a part of so many cultures around the world? Also how is it possible that with this phenomenon spanning across the globe, how is the story the same everywhere with such specific details?

Let me know what you think about it? Is there an old hag or shadow man/demon? Is this all explained through modern medicine? If you believe in the paranormal answer, what do you think they want?

The Spirit Orb: To believe or not to believe? That is the question.

Maybe it is specs of dust. Perhaps it is due to a dirty camera lens?  Could it be the reflection of light from a camera flash? Or just maybe it is a spirit energy manifesting itself on a photo? What do we think about the phenomenon known as the spirit orb? Is it just a bunch of pop culture hokum?

There are so many reasons to doubt the validity of the orb. I myself have difficulty with it as well. I do not disbelieve that the orb could be the manifestation of spirit energy. I know that some pictures are hard to deny that there is something to this idea. I only doubt that the quantities of spirit orb photos that are being submitted for proof of paranormal activity are actually spirit energy. They are the easiest thing to fake, but they are also the easiest thing to believe in for those who are a little too easily excitable.

When I see pictures of orb shots with someone on a beach on a bright sunny day being reported as a ghost following the family around, I tend to have my doubts. However, when I see an orb shot in a place that has had a history of disturbances with valid witnesses to attest to the reported encounters I am more inclined to believe it. I have a family history that takes root in South America, superstition is rampant. Voodoo practitioners worship in their own way, right next door to the Hindu family who prays at their altars while the Muslim man walks down the street outside chatting with the catholic man and his friend the Christian. It’s a nice melting pot of belief systems all with their own superstitions that as everyone gets to know one another, those superstitions begin to merge with each other.  Give those who are stuck in those systems of superstition a camera and let them catch an orb, next thing you know they have this whole story about how Aunty Zorita died and has been following the family ever since. Now with this picture they just took, they now have proof that she is still with the family.

As you can tell I bring in a mix of religions in that last paragraph mixed in with a little humor not to be insulting, but to make the case that sometimes a little too much excitement with just enough knowledge of religious beliefs and superstition can cause anything to seem like a haunting. I know this seems to be heading in the direction of me not believing that orbs could be spiritual energy but that is not the case. I just feel that it is too often taken as a sign of haunting just based on this one piece of supposed evidence by some groups. So please folks if you take a picture and see an orb don’t run with all your speed to get to a phone to call the local exorcist.

Now let’s talk about the other side of that coin. What about the scenario where you have the individual or family in a house where doors open and close? Where objects move by themselves? Voices and footsteps happen without explanation? What about the orbs in pictures those families take? Are they more credible? I say yes. When you have reported activity and this activity has witnesses to verify it I would have to call those orbs actual spirit orbs. Yes they still could be dust, but much less likely that they are just something so simple. When you see the picture of the cat staring up with its eyes locked onto something and in the picture you see an orb, there is probably something to that. I use this example because I just so happen to have that exact picture that a friend of mine posted on one of my pages of this exact situation. I will post that picture and let you be the judge.

What do you think? Is this cat looking at something? It seems that way to me. Ultimately when it comes to the question of whether or not I believe in orbs, my answer is yes I do believe that orbs can sometimes actually be a spirit energy manifesting itself. I just don’t think every single orb picture is a spectre from the great beyond. To quote Sigmund Freud, “sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.”

Friday the 13th: Paranormal or Paranoia?

Hello to everyone and Happy Friday the 13th. There are a number of different theories as to why Friday the 13th was considered to be unlucky. In an article written by Claire Suddath in Time U.S on February 13th, 2009, you betcha it was a Friday.  Some historians have narrowed down the unlucky number 13 to the 13 members of the last supper. To those who are not familiar with the last supper. This was a major part of the history of Jesus Christ, leading up to the crucifixion.  Neither Judas nor Jesus Christ fared well in this biblical telling. Just to clarify, Judas was listed as the 13th member to arrive.
Suddath further explains how the ancient Babylonians omit the number 13 out of the Code of Hammurabi. Displaying that as far back as Babylonian times the number 13 was out casted.  This however was independent of Friday until later on in the 20th century. Suddath tells of a stock broker in 1907 named Thomas Lawson who wrote a book called Friday the 13th which was about a malevolent business man who was on a relentless quest to crash the stock market on the day deemed to be the unluckiest day of the month which Lawson just so happened to put on the Friday. This book sold extremely well and later on in 1916 went on to become a feature length film.
Another theory written in National Geographic News on August 12, 2004, John Roach spoke to folk historian Donald Dossey. The research of Dossey traced the origins of Friday the 13th to the Norse Gods. Dossey explained the myth that 12 Norse Gods were having dinner in Valhalla. Valhalla was considered Norse Heaven. Loki the God of mischief who was not invited to the dinner decided to crash the party. By showing up at the party that made Loki guest number 13 and this caused a major problem at the party. Loki arranged for Hoder, the blind God of darkness, to shoot another God, Balder, God of Beauty, Joy, and Gladness with a mistletoe tipped arrow. The arrow killed Balder. This plunged the world into darkness and the people mourned the loss of Balder making this day an ominous day from then on. The number 13 in this theory was forever considered unlucky.
Now that I have given a few brief and summarized histories of this historically unlucky day, let’s talk paranormal. We know this day is considered bad luck throughout numerous cultures for a number of different reasons and theories aside from what I have written above.  Is there a link? Is this bad luck because of a mass paranoia brought about from centuries of superstition? Or maybe, just maybe this bad luck stems from something more. Could there be some dark or negative force that for whatever reason finds empowerment on this day to cause calamity among the living. I am not saying that this is true, nor am I even saying that I believe in the misfortunes of Friday the 13th. I am just opening up thoughts and ideas as to what this could all be about. We can go through the internet and find pages upon pages about the histories of the day. However,  as the saying goes,  “I think therefore I am”. You think it, and so it must be. Therefore, what do you think? Is this day a supernatural black hole, or is it all a bunch of hokum.
I personally think that regardless of the day we make our own fate. The thought of luck is just to give us that extra bit of hope when we embark on a difficult task. I ask for luck and hope for luck, but ultimately I know that if I want to achieve something, it is up to me to work hard and make it happen. Luck won’t do that for me.
Where do you stand on this? Friday the 13th, fact or fiction?
